It was a volatile month for retail with the cold weather dragging on sales before a surge in shoppers in the run-up to the Easter weekend. The report, compiled by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and KPMG, said UK retail sales rose 1.4 per cent on a like-for-like basis compared with March 2017.
